2014 Reading Challenges: Final Check-In (Claire)

ReadingChallenges2014

It’s done. It’s December 30th and I have one blessed day to go till 2015 and I’ll just say it straight up, I’m not going to finish or read anything between now and then. So my friends, this counts as my final Challenge post for 2014! I’ll do a 2014 in review later.

Non-Fiction Reading Challenge

Dilettante: 5 books

Status: FAILED
Comments: I didn’t read a single book for this challenge, clearly I over-estimated my willingness to read or have time for NF. I might try and do this challenge again for 2015 though.

  5. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain

2014 Historical Fiction Reading Challenge

Renaissance Reader: 10 books

Status: COMPLETED
Comments: I didn’t enjoy doing this challenge and won’t do so again. I used to be a huge HF freak, but I’ve noticed that my tastes change according to my situation in life. This year was hard so I prefered the magic of fantasy.

  10. Ash by Malinda Lo

  3. Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake
  4. A Natural History of Dragons (A Memoir by Lady Trent #1) by Marie Brennan

2014 TBR Pile Challenge

Master List: 12 TBR books (Added before 2013)

Status: FAILED
Comments: No desire to even talk about this much, I felt like it constrained my reading choices so I won’t ever join it again.

  2. Citadel (Languedoc #3) by Kate Mosse
  3. Goblin Fruit by Laini Taylor

Congratulations on completing the year challenge! 😀 Hey, despite winning some challenges and losing some you’ve learnt a bit more about your own reading tastes so I guess despite it all doing the challenges was a good move. 🙂

  4. Cee says:

GO YOU! You completed more than half of the challenges. Yay! I feel like I should attempt to partake in a reading challenge, but I’ma free-spirit. I can’t be contained! ;D

  5. writersideup says:

Wow, I say you’ve done well! I’d love it if you used a different word than “failed” though 🙂 How about something like “Maybe next time!” 🙂

  6. I don’t really like non-fiction books. The only one I might try is the first book you listed, since it has tsomething about fairytale endings :p Great job on finishing your women, Goodreads & Historical fiction challenge (although it’s a shame you didn’t enjoy the last one) Good luck next year 😀

  7. The Women Challenge is extremely easy. I’m looking for a Man Challenge! lol I don’t read nearly enough from male authors.
