I’m not a fashion person whatsoever so I really, really, don’t know what to put with this. I never pay attention to clothes on a character.
I was however, very impressed with McGonagall’s dress robes at the Yule Ball. I’d totally wear those on a fancy night out.
I like to be comfortable and well-prepared while lookin’ cool (to my mind…) so any ‘style icons’ would probably fit that philosophy. That said, I don’t actually pay that much attention to a character’s fashion to remember specific outfits. In fact, super detailed descriptions of clothing can sometimes seem a bit tedious to read I find. The best use of clothing descriptions to me is to give an impression of the character’s personality or the atmosphere of the situation (though I know some people find a lot of minute detail adds more texture to the reading).
Again, Kali Ciesemier’s depiction of Sabriel is perfect and well-aligned with my tastes in every way. I wouldn’t call this a fashion ‘moment’, but I definitely appreciated the WWI tech & dress of this fictional world mixed with its magic elements. Everything seemed very practical, well-crafted and just right.
Fun fact: Until a recent (ruthless) clear out I had a parka that looked very similar to Sabriel’s coat.
Nikki edit: Weird coincidence that we both have a green thing going on!
