#BookADayUK 6: First book I bought in a bookshop

ClaireDay4 Book A Day UK

Thank you! Finally, one I can think of without launching myself into a stress induced frenzy. This one is easy because I remember it clearly, I had read Nancy Drew #2 by mistake in the library, where I was conveniently hiding from a few buddies. I loved #2 so much I begged my mother to take me to the store when I had saved up my quarters and got #1. I was so excited, I devoured it in a few hours, which for an 8 year old is pretty good I think. I lo ed the fact that she was kick butt and independent. Now, I see a lot of problems with the book, class issues and race and so on, but, for an 8 year old reader, I think she’s an OK protagonist.

I still reread the Nancy Drew series frequently because I’ve been given many by my parents and each are filled with little notes. I love cracking open the spines of these old tomes.

Pffffft! I have NO idea…Maybe it was one of the Horrible Histories books?? Probably.
