Blogoversary Mania: Popularity Vs. Love

Blogoversary

I don’t do this blogging thing for popularity and hits, but I must admit that it feels good when I’ve written something that I’m particularly proud of and people like it.

Popular Posts

TopPosts

So obviously you’ve got to take this list with a grain of salt. Older posts will receive more hits and newer posts won’t. I’m not really surprised at this list, though I am pretty chuffed to see my Dumbledore Letter make it because (1) this post is fairly recent and (2) I had so much darn fun writing it!

There are a number of Happy Hour posts as well, even though my Happy Hour series was easily, my least popular series (and also least favourite, I got tired of making drinks and waking up with headaches!).

My Favourite Posts

The following list documents my favourite posts- which are really, the posts that I had the most fun writing, planning and executing. In general, I love doing this but there are some posts and days when I really have to force myself to churn something out. And you can tell, those posts aren’t well liked.

  1. (3) My Hogwarts Course Load (And The Classes I Hexed)
  2. (2) A Letter To Dumbledore: Where’s My Damn Letter?
  3. (1) Harry Potter And The Blanket Of Ashes
  4. Review: The Other Side of Paradise
  5. Lessons From My Father
  6. 15 Day Book Challenge: Day 6
  7. Literary Listings: We’ve Got More Bling Than Sauron
  8. Literary Listings: Geeky For The History Of Things
  9. No-Sew Book Semi-Tutorial
  10. Review: Seraphina (Seraphina #1)

Well… clearly I am a Potterhead. The Harry Potter posts were the best, I was actually giggling as I wrote them!

I don’t know what makes a good post, or what makes a popular one. Obviously, things like an exciting writing style contribute to those factors. Visitors also seem to like lists, lots and lots of lists. Those are a bit of a pain to do because of the amount of configuring they require, but they sure are fun to devise! Themed posts (LOTR, Harry Potter, HF, History) also create a niche with readers.

I’ve got to ask: Do you have any posts that you particularly enjoyed from BWB?

Congrats Claire! It’s wonderful that some of the posts you enjoyed the most are doing well and your favorites that aren’t your top ten most viewed are some of my favorites too, so I’m glad you write posts you like 🙂

  3. I’m another HP lover! You’re so creative in the ways you show your love for it that I can’t help but fall in love with those posts! I’m actually one of the rare ones that don’t care too much for lists, but that’s okay. I know I’m in the minority 😉

  4. The Harry Potter themed posts are also my favorites. I’m a Potterhead and seeing HP love on blogs always makes me happy 😀

Happy Blogoversary!!! For me it’ll have to be all things Potter-related. Your letter to Dumbledore had me cracking up. And you reading Philosopher’s Stone under the blanket when you were younger brought back memories. For me it was usually a candle by my bedside – most of the time there was no electricity at night in Nigeria when I was growing up. And your literary listings as well – my favourite books when I was Mini-Me.

Yay! I’m glad you like the Harry Potter stuff, I’ve had so much fun planning them and so on. I’d liek to take my geeky obsessions into other books, so lets see where that goes! And Yikes! I’m glad we had electricity most nights, and when we didn’t I used a flashlight. I wasn’t allowed to touch candles -.- I have some… itneresting stories for that one as well.
