Let me just make this clear: I am not trying to start a world book blog war on WP or any other site, I just want to share with you some of the blogs that I follow and appreciate.
So what am I gonna do then?! Every month or every other month I’ma share 9 new blogs or oldies that I found/discovered/really appreciate. It’s all about sharing the book blogging love + it’s a good place for me to archive my links.
My kuddoes to them for their hard work. If you’re not on the list it doesn’t mean I don’t love you but maybe that I haven’t discovered you’re awesomeness yet! If you have a book blog and want to be added to the ❤ list, just drop a comment and I’ll add you!
(1) Book Blog Exploration: August Edition
Why do I love them? This blog is run by Kelley and I tend to use the word awesome too much when commenting on her posts. But seriously, her blog is great and light-hearted, it’s definitely one of the more fun bookish blogs on the net- plus her graphics are insane, so everything is bright and colorful and it just makes my bleak days seem better.
Anything Unique? She posts like every day, I don’t know how this superhero does itbut she manages it with style!
Favourite Post? Four Questions for The Host (Movie)
Why do I love them? Nancy runs the blog and she is very frank and unapologetic about the books she likes and you can tell that she loves them- the way she writes is filled with such an amazing energy. It’s quite refreshing. Plus Nancy is a student and being one, I’m a bit biased but to run a book blog while at school? Man, that isskill.
Anything Unique? Well first, her layout is amazing and I recently found out that she did it herself, so kuddoes to her for her talent! Plus she also did mine, so I think everyone should give her a holler.
Why do I love them? Tara is a former educator who blogs about books, literacy and education. She’s not your typical book blogger and she’s got a great energy to her posts. Plus they’re interesting, as our love of books is tied into notions and understanding of literacy, education and so on. I say kuddoes for her.
Anything Unique? I find her series, Novel Ideas, to be very inspiring. This series explores her journey through grad school and the trails or struggles that come with this decision. For anyone wanting to go to grad school her frank discussion of her experience is a must-read.
Favourite Post? Novel Ideas : One Year Down…
Why do I love them? Stacey was the first book blogger I ever followed. She has a lot of things going on for her: She takes pictures of her own books, she reviews books + bookstores, she blogs about the publishing industry and has a great simple way of talking. Pretty Books is very relatable.
Anything Unique? Stacey blogs about books and publishing which is an interesting intersection I can’t read anywhere else. For me, the book publishing world is like this mythical heaven (or hell) that can’t be touched and she portrays a pretty realistic portrait of what it’s like to work in it.
Favourite Post? Behold the Pretty Books!
Why do I love them? I’ve liked Yamini’s blog for some time. Like some of my other book blog loves she blogs about an array of topics within the book world, as well as tv and history. And I love history. I like to see it when book bloggers branch out of their usual territory.
Anything Unique? She reviews in cupcakes. How brilliant is this!
Favourite Post? Review | #1 The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
Why do I love them? Heather runs Between The Covers, which has a great well-rounded feel. She writes brilliant reviews (love it!) and has some funny challenges that she comes up with.
Anything Unique? She participates in the Year Of Reading Whatever The Fuck I Want, which is an anti-challenge in some respects (the challenge was created to respond to other challenges).
Favourite Post? A Non-Fiction Adventure
Why do I love them? Lori’s hella funny, her posts always make me laugh and her tweets are filled with such great attitude!
Anything Unique? She reviews indie books and this is an area that I don’t read much on, so I get my indie fix here.
Favourite Post? The Audio Series: Donald O’Donovan
Why do I love them? Nafiza has a great book blog. She does the usual spin, reviews and so onbut she includes a lot of herself in her blogs which is good. Sometimes with blogs you can give too much and not enough and I like that her work balances both.
Anything Unique? She blog a lot about artists and artwork, and as someone who works in the arts industry I think this is essential. Books and art are often separated, but I don’t think they should be. Both are products of creativity so I appreciate her inclusion of it on her blog.
Favourite Post? Grad School Glimpses: Summer Classes and The T-Word
Why do I love them? What’s not to love? Aimee loves Sailor Moon and Harry Potter (just like me!) and she writes awesome reviews. Plus her blog layout is pretty kick ass. I enjoy her blog overall, and I find her work to be very engaging, which says something because I have an incredibly short attention span.
Anything Unique? She has a great series called Chibi!Reviews which are a bunch of small reviews in one post. I think this is brilliant, not only do you bang out a few reviews in one post, but it gives readers a glimpse into each book.
