15 Day Book Challenge: Day 13

Day 13: Describe one under-appreciated book EVERYONE should read.

Publisher: W. W. Norton & Company, 1992
Genre: Historical Fiction, Literature
Source + Date Read: Purchased + April 2008
Favourite Line: “Blot out the moon, /Pull down the stars. /Love in the dark, for we’re for the dark/So soon, so soon.”

I have a lot of books that I think everyone should read. I’ve got a lot of attitude and tons to say and books always do that better than I do for myself. What should I recommend then? This is a toughie. Right now I am split between two books, Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys and Caucasia by Danzy Senna. I think both books are wonderful and deserving of recognition but only one can be victorious!

Wide Sargasso Sea is amazing, elegant, poignant and utterly heartbreaking. I developed an unnatural bond to this book and quite related to the main character’s descent into madness. She’s an anti-heroine, but still beautiful.
