Day 2: What is your bedtime reading ritual?

I tend not to read right up to bed time because I’ll never sleep if I do that, I’d keep on reading and reading. About 2 hrs before I sleep I’ll read, and I get all comfy on my bed, fluff up my pillows and quilt and lay down (on my side). It’s the best position ever!

If I’m reading something already I’ll just continue with that but I normally just choose what I feel like. Oh, I guess this is important too- no food or drink near me during reading time. I don’t have the best attention span and if I see or smell food or drink near me, I won’t read, I’ll eat (Eeep!). I do like to have a hand full of mints though, during the night when I read. I just pop them automatically. I read for about an hour then I stop and do other things before bed. When I read up to bed time, I go to bed at like 5AM, or 7AM in the case of The Help (I read for 12 hours straight).

My ritual is kind of lame but it’s simple. Do you have one?

  1. I like reading before bed, like right up to bed time, but I don’t do it. For one reason really. I’d have to get up to turn off the light. I definitely need a clapper or something. Haha.
    So instead, I read earlier in the evening, then watch tv shows with T. I usually fall asleep at some point between 10 and 11, just like a regular lil ol’ lady. Lol.

    I like to read just for a little while before bed to help me unwind. Only actual books though, nothing on Kindle because I ideally I would like to stop looking at screens at least 30 minutes before bed. After getting ready for bed I probably only read until the end of a chapter or for 20 minutes, whichever comes first! Although sometimes it’s hard to put a book down, I just think of how miserable I’d be at work the next day if I don’t get a full night’s sleep due to reading all night!

    I have a hard time falling asleep, but I’ve found that reading in bed with the lights off makes me fall asleep much faster. So I’ve been taking my iPhone to bed with me and using the Kindle app to read a few pages.

    (Except…I got into a really good book about a week ago and caught myself reading for AN HOUR before I realized I needed to put it down. Haha!)
