So- how does everyone feel about reading challenges?
I know there is a great deal of debate about this whole concept. Should we challenge ourselves to read? Is it worth it? Does it detract from the pleasure seeking aspect of the act of reading? Does it cloud our judgement and opinion as to what we should read? Does it rid us of organic choices?
I can’t speak on this debate per say. I know that I enjoy challenges and thrive under them. I also know that if I enter a Reading Challenge it does not detract from organic choices. I won’t ever go, “Oh no! I have a few months left on my challenge, I can’t read this! No!” I know that was an exaggeration but you get the point. I think they’re a good opportunity but to each their own I say.
Does anyone in the book blogosphere have some goodies they want to share? So far I’ve joined 4 challenges and I want to share them! I’m willing to join more so share the goodies!

I like challenges. Love ‘em, actually. Not sure I could do a reading challenge though. I’m too wanna-do-what-I-want. Lol. Plus I always feel like the options are super limited since we don’t have any kickbutt bookstores around here. AND my time is split among so many things, including writing for a few different projects. 2013 is gonna be buuuuusy! I’m excited though! And I’ll be watching your challenge updates. Maybe I’ll get all jealous and wanna do some in 2014.
I feel you on that. I’m ok with Reading Challenges because I’ve managed to convince the entire family to chip in for an amazon gift card for me, which means 1 thing! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKS!
